The warning was issued ahead of a forecast Sunday morning, with minimum wind chills expected to drop to as low as 10°F in Chiefland and up to 27°F in Fort Myers. Other locations reporting wind chill values include 12°F in Crystal River, The Villages, and Brooksville; 23°F in New Port Richey; 24°F in Tampa; 28°F in Sarasota; 14°F in Lakeland; 11°F in Lake Wales; 19°F in Duette; 16°F in Wauchula; 21°F in Sebring; 26°F in Arcadia; and 27°F in Punta Gorda.

The information was released by the Weather Forecast Office in Tampa Bay/Ruskin, FL, on January 30, 2026, at 4:01 AM EST. Residents are reminded to take appropriate precautions for both themselves and their pets during this period of cold weather.
