**Six New Troopers Begin Duty at Indianapolis Post**
**Indianapolis, Indiana** – The Indiana State Police Indianapolis Post has welcomed six new state troopers following their graduation from the 86th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy on January 9, 2024. These six troopers are among 30 recruits who successfully completed the rigorous training at the academy.
Each of the six newly assigned troopers will now enter a three-month field training program, pairing up with veteran troopers to apply their extensive academy training in real-world situations. Over the course of their academy training, they completed more than 1,100 hours of comprehensive instruction, including criminal law, emergency vehicle operations, crash investigation, traffic law, self-defense, and first responder training. Upon successful completion of the field training, they will receive state patrol vehicles and begin solo patrol duty.
Below is a summary of the six newly appointed troopers and their backgrounds:
1. **Trooper Jeremy Danford** – A Clearwater, Florida native, Trooper Danford graduated from Clearwater High School in 2010. He served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Corporal, before joining the Indiana State Police. Trooper Danford is currently engaged and has two children. He resides in Johnson County.
2. **Trooper Deklyn Hostetler** – Hailing from Lagrange, Indiana, Trooper Hostetler is a 2019 graduate of Lakeland High School. He served in the United States Air Force, where he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant, and later graduated from Vincennes University in 2023 with an associate degree in Aviation. He lives in Marion County with his fiancée, Regon.
3. **Trooper Samuel Miller** – Originally from Dobbs Ferry, New York, Trooper Miller graduated from The Masters School in 2014. He serves in the Army National Guard as an E-5 Sergeant and was deployed to Kenya as part of the Airborne Infantry Unit. Trooper Miller is married and resides in Hamilton County.
4. **Trooper Emmanuel Perez Vanegas** – A Plainfield, Indiana native, Trooper Perez Vanegas is a 2020 graduate of Avon High School. He serves in the Army National Guard as a Private First Class and has studied Mechanical Engineering at IUPUI. He is married and lives in Hendricks County.
5. **Trooper Jacob Platt** – Trooper Platt grew up in Plainfield, Indiana, and graduated from Plainfield High School in 2020. He serves as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Indiana Army National Guard and recently graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in History and a minor in Criminology. He is engaged and resides in Hendricks County.
6. **Trooper Jarison Salomon Wood** – Born in Brus Laguna, Honduras, Trooper Salomon Wood graduated from Tree of Life Ministry in 2009. He served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of E4 Specialist. Trooper Salomon Wood lives in Hamilton County with his wife and four children.
These six troopers bring diverse skills, military experience, and dedication to public service to their new roles. They will be working diligently to protect and serve their communities as part of the Indiana State Police force.
